The Curtis Cup pits the best lady amateurs of Great Britain & Ireland against their counterparts from the United States, in an expanded 3 day team match play competition. The Curtis Cup will be played for the first time in its history at the home of golf, The Old Course, St Andrews, returning to Scotland after a 24 year gap.

The Curtis Cup was donated to golf by Harriet and Margaret Curtis in 1927 'to stimulate friendly rivalry among the women golfers of many lands'. The first match was played at Wentworth in 1932. In the series the US have won 22 matches, GB&I 6, with three matches halved. Since 1984 the results have been much closer with four wins each and one halved match.
The next Curtis Cup Match in 2010 will be played at the Essex County Club, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, USA. 11th to 13th June 2010.
The Curtis Cup Match in 2012 will be played at The Nairn Golf Club, Nairn, Scotland. 8th to 10th June 2012.
